Working Mothers Class Location: The Internet. Description: This course is designed to help the increasingly growing amount of working mothers. Objective: Learn how to be successful at your career and being a mom. Mothers who work have an incredibly difficult task of holding two jobs: child-rearing and their outside job. Most also want to be successful at both. The keys to being a successful working mom are prioritization and delegation. Know what is important to you at home and what you want to accomplish in your career as well. At the office... Your boss will likely want you to be just like them. Modeling their behavior will help you succeed at the office and rise among the ranks. They will want you to work as hard as them and be as loyal to the company as they are. Avoid making office enemies, and make friends instead. Socialize with people within all levels of the organization especially ones that have a hand in raises or promotions. The more they know you, like you and trust you the more likely they are to do something about it later on. Always get involved with suggesting ideas and working on projects to prove your worth within the company. If you have worked hard enough to earn a pay raise, research salary information and ask for one. Be sure to ask for more money than you expect or will accept to allow for negotiation. At home... Realize that you will have to say "no" to some things. It may be teaching Sunday school, or being the Den mother. There will always be people asking you to make commitments you don't have time for. Say "yes" to commitments that line up with your work and family priorities, but not just because you can't say "no." Ask for help from your family. Letting them know how much you love them and what your job means to you can help them understand what you need. Then delegate household work by having your husband and children pitch in. Start small and be sure to praise them and show gratitude for their assistance. |
